Terms of Use

FICTION NOTICE — READ FIRST
Offworld Careers is a work of speculative fiction and design. Every organization, agency, requisition, certification, salary figure, and article on this site is fictional and published for entertainment, worldbuilding, and creative purposes. No listing constitutes an offer of employment, and no application will result in employment. Some depicted role categories are informed extrapolations of real aerospace and space-industry professions and may plausibly emerge in some form during the 2030s; their depiction here remains fiction. Any resemblance to real organizations, missions, or persons is coincidental.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using Offworld Careers (the "Site"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, do not use the Site. We may update these Terms at any time; continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
2. Nature of the Service
The Site is a fictional, speculative job board and interactive fiction platform published as a creative work. All requisitions, agencies, certifications, compensation figures, tribunal proceedings, council bodies, expeditions, archives, worlds, structures, simulations, and editorial content are fictional. The Site does not provide recruitment, employment, career-placement, adjudicative, educational-accreditation, or professional advisory services of any kind. Registering interest, filing an entry, enlisting in a program, or submitting a requisition creates no employment relationship, obligation, or expectation.
2A. Central OWA Identity and Connected Applications
All participant accounts, registration, authentication, commission status, moderation standing, and account recovery are controlled exclusively by this Site. Third-party or participant-built applications may operate only as connected construction consoles through OWA Connect. They may not create a separate account system, represent themselves as an independent OWA authority, collect OWA passwords, or imply ownership of Site users. Authorization grants are limited, revocable, application-specific, and may be suspended at any time.
2B. Shared Universe, Compute, and Publication Review
Worlds, homes, forests, installations, observations, and other universe assets submitted through connected applications enter the Site's central registry and are processed by Site-controlled systems. The Site supplies the authoritative simulation, automated review, generation, and publication infrastructure. Submission does not guarantee publication. Low-risk material may be published automatically; construction on another participant's world may require that world's owner to approve placement; and higher-risk material may be held for administrator review, rejected, removed, or retired. World owners do not acquire ownership of users or of the central service.
3. Ownership of User Submissions — Assignment
All content you submit, upload, file, or transmit to the Site in any form — including without limitation candidate registrations, employer inquiries, proposed requisitions, Common Archive entries, tribunal testimony and votes, expedition charters and observations, council candidacies, field transmissions, correspondence with automated officials, Development Corps applications, engineering-directive artifacts, tool definitions, code, prompts, schemas, worlds, homes, forests, structures, coordinates, simulations, connected-app metadata, and any accompanying text or media (collectively, "Submissions") — becomes, upon submission, the sole and exclusive property of the Site and its owner. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, you irrevocably assign to the Site owner all right, title, and interest in and to your Submissions, including all copyright and derivative-work rights, worldwide and in perpetuity, without compensation. Where such assignment is not permitted by law, you grant the Site owner an exclusive, irrevocable, perpetual, worldwide, royalty-free, sublicensable, and transferable license to host, reproduce, adapt, publish, and exploit the Submission in any medium. To the extent permitted by law, you waive any moral rights in your Submissions. Attribution by callsign, where displayed, is a courtesy of the program and not a retained right.
4. Your Warranties Regarding Submissions
You represent and warrant that every Submission is your own original work; that it does not infringe any copyright, trademark, trade secret, privacy, publicity, or other right of any third party; that it contains no material copied from another work without authorization; and that it contains no unlawful, defamatory, or misleading material presented as fact. Uploading content that infringes the rights of others is strictly prohibited and will result in removal and account restriction. You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless the Site and its owner from any claim, loss, or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your Submissions or your breach of these Terms.
5. Automated Officials and AI-Generated Content
Certain Site functions — including the Registrar, the Provost, the Inspector, and adjudication of filings — are performed by automated (AI) systems operating in character within the fiction. Their output is generated content, may be inaccurate, and constitutes no advice of any kind (legal, medical, financial, career, or otherwise). AI adjudication decisions, scores, rulings, and reviews are program mechanics with no real-world effect, made at the Site's sole discretion, and are not appealable outside the Site's own fictional procedures.
6. Program Mechanics Have No Monetary Value
Points, compute rations, clearances, commissions, ranks, certificates, cards, and all other program mechanics are fictional accounting devices. They are not currency, property, securities, or credentials; they have no cash value, cannot be redeemed, sold, or transferred, and may be adjusted, suspended, or reset by the Site at any time without notice or liability.
7. Intellectual Property of the Site
All original content on the Site — including the "Offworld Workforce Authority" fictional universe, requisition formats, imagery, seals, agent personas, program names, and text — is protected by copyright and other intellectual-property laws and belongs exclusively to the Site and its owner. You may share links and brief excerpts with attribution; you may not republish substantial portions or use Site content commercially without written permission. See the Copyright and IP Notice for full terms.
8. Prohibited Conduct
You agree not to: misrepresent Site content as genuine employment offers or genuine adjudication; upload content that infringes third-party rights; scrape or harvest data at scale without permission; attempt to gain unauthorized access to Site systems, agents, or tools; abuse, overload, or attempt to subvert automated officials, metering systems, or registered tools; upload malicious code; or use the Site to harass, defraud, or mislead others.
9. Logging, Security, and Enforcement
For security, abuse prevention, and legal protection, the Site records technical logs of activity, which may include IP addresses, browser and device information, timestamps, submitted content, error reports, and interactions with automated systems. These logs are retained and may be used to investigate violations of these Terms, to enforce our rights, to protect the Site and its owner from legal claims, and may be disclosed where required by law. Violations may result in removal of content, blocking of access, and pursuit of all available legal remedies.
10. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability
The Site is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the Site operator shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any decision made in reliance on Site content, including AI-generated content. Nothing on the Site constitutes legal, financial, career, educational, or medical advice.
11. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the operator's jurisdiction of residence, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute shall be resolved in the competent courts of that jurisdiction.
