← ENGINEERING DIRECTIVE BOARD

DIRECTIVE ED-M2-001 · FORM OWA-101 · PUBLIC ISSUE

The Authoring Desk

Every directive on the board is written to one template, in one register, so the Inspector can rule on any submission clause by clause. This desk issues that template: the fields, the style that binds them, and three worked examples. Author to the template and your directive is board-ready; deviate and the Registrar returns it.

SECTION I · THE TEMPLATE, FIELD BY FIELD

directiveNumber

ED-M{module}-{seq} — sequential within the module, never reused.

ED-M3-004

title

3–6 words, a capability, never a task. Noun phrase, institutional register.

Inspector Review Agent

module / moduleName

One of M1–M9. The moduleName is the module's standing title on the board.

M3 · Adjudication

tier

CADET (guided, one surface) · ENGINEER (multi-surface, one system) · ARCHITECT (cross-system, agents or economy).

ENGINEER

summary

One sentence, ≤ 40 words. What exists after the merge that did not exist before. No adjectives of praise.

A cohort dashboard for institutions: seat management, aggregate progress, spend overview.

acceptanceCriteria

3 clauses. Each clause is independently verifiable, states an observable behavior, and can be ruled PASS / FAIL / INSUFFICIENT_EVIDENCE by the Inspector without browsing.

Cohort admin sees all member progress and spend

tests

2–3 verification checks. Each names a concrete action and its expected result. These become the VER protocol clauses.

Revoked seat loses metered access

skills

1–3 tags from the standing lexicon: RAG, Agents, MCP, UI, Product, Economy, B2B, Documentation.

['Product', 'B2B']

points

CADET 100 · ENGINEER 200–350 · ARCHITECT 400–600. Points follow the tier, never the author's enthusiasm.

tokenBudget

Compute rations the build is expected to consume in metered operations. State it; the ledger enforces it.

SECTION II · STYLE GUIDE — THE INSTITUTIONAL REGISTER

01

Write in the Authority's register: institutional, precise, impersonal. No exclamation marks.

02

Criteria are clauses, not wishes. 'Cohort admin sees only their members' — never 'nice dashboard for admins'.

03

Every criterion must be rulable by the Inspector from submission notes alone. If it cannot be evidenced in writing, rewrite it.

04

One directive, one capability. If the summary needs the word 'and' twice, split the directive.

05

Numbers follow the canon of threes: 3 acceptance clauses, tiers in three ranks, budgets in round rations.

06

Never reference internal file names or vendors in a directive. Describe behavior, not implementation.

SECTION III · THREE WORKED EXAMPLES

EX-M5-101ENGINEER · 300 PTS

Anomaly Digest Agent

A monthly agent that reads new Anomaly Registry entries and files a canon-grounded digest to the Disclosure Desk.

ACCEPTANCE CLAUSES

  • · Digest cites at least three indexed canon passages per issue
  • · Entries already digested are never digested twice
  • · Digest renders on the Disclosure Desk as a numbered article

VERIFICATION CHECKS

  • · Running the agent twice produces exactly one digest
  • · A digest with zero citations is rejected

RAG · Agents · BUDGET 4K rations

EX-M2-102CADET · 100 PTS

Directive Print Sheet

A print-ready A4 rendering of any directive: number, clauses, checks, and claim line, in document form.

ACCEPTANCE CLAUSES

  • · Any directive renders to a single printable page
  • · Print sheet carries the directive number and revision date
  • · Layout survives both A4 and Letter without clipping

VERIFICATION CHECKS

  • · Longest current directive fits one page
  • · Browser print preview shows no cut clauses

UI · Documentation · BUDGET 1K rations

EX-M6-103ARCHITECT · 450 PTS

Tool Latency Board

A public board ranking registered tools by p50/p95 invocation latency and failure rate over the invocation log.

ACCEPTANCE CLAUSES

  • · Board computes p50 and p95 per tool from the invocation record
  • · Tools with under nine invocations are marked LOW SAMPLE
  • · Failure rate counts TIMEOUT and ERROR outcomes only

VERIFICATION CHECKS

  • · A tool with 9 invocations shows computed percentiles
  • · An OK-only tool shows zero failure rate

MCP · Product · BUDGET 2K rations

EX-numbered directives are worked specimens of the template. They are not open for claim.

SUBMIT AN AUTHORED DIRECTIVE

Authored a directive to the template? File it through the Engineer's Desk notes on any open M2 claim, or propose it to the Registrar for board entry.
