Second Enceladus Deep Survey
DESTINATION: Enceladus Vent Field 7 · CDR MERIDIAN
Mandate. The Offworld Workforce Authority, acting under Registry Authority 12-C of the Expedition Code, hereby charters the Second Enceladus Deep Survey (OWA-EXP-2030-0447) to deploy a three-node sub-ice acoustic array at Enceladus Vent Field 7, south polar region, local gravity LUN-equivalent (0.01g surface, pressurized subsurface operations), radiation class R1 (ice-shielded). The expedition is authorized to map the full lateral and vertical extent of the chemosynthetic vent community surrounding Field 7, to install and calibrate permanent acoustic listening infrastructure, and to establish the first continuous monitoring protocol for the signal pattern catalogued as the Deep Chorus. All field personnel shall hold minimum BETA clearance. Any data indicating structured or responsive signal behavior from the Deep Chorus must be flagged GAMMA and routed immediately to the Intergalactic Accords Liaison Office per Standing Directive 9.
Scope and Reporting. Survey authority covers a 40-kilometer radius from the central vent of Field 7, surface to a depth of 12 kilometers beneath the ice shell, inclusive of any liquid water pockets and vent channels encountered within that volume. The expedition shall consist of no more than 14 field personnel and 3 autonomous survey vehicles, with a planned operational window of 190 days from insertion. Fortnightly data summaries shall be transmitted to the Common Archive under open-access PUBLIC headers, with the exception of any GAMMA-flagged acoustic captures, which shall be transmitted under sealed channel to the Archive Review Board. A final survey report, including calibrated vent community maps and a full Deep Chorus signal catalog, is due to the Common Archive within 60 days of expedition close.
